Amy Park
Lead Preschool Teacher – Three Year Olds
apark@joyschool.org

Amy Park is the lead teacher in Room 210, one of the three year old classrooms in the Extended Care program.  She is otherwise known as “Silly Ms. Amy” by the 3 year olds that she teaches because she likes getting down on the floor and playing with them.  You could say she is a kid in an adult body.  Amy is single and has no children of her own.  She loves the children she teaches so much that they’ve become family to her.

Amy’s love for children started as a young person in her small town in Southern Minnesota. She was a Sunday school teacher in her home church.  Amy wanted to show-n-share her love for Christ to any child with whom she came in contact, and still does to this day.

In 1991 she took a big step for herself, left her hometown population of 377, and moved to Springfield, MO, where she attended Evangel College.  During summer break, Amy visited her family in Prescott Valley, AZ, and fell in love with the mountains and the area.  She got a job as an aid at a local Baptist church preschool.  Later she became a lead teacher.

Through her experiences that summer, she realized that God was telling her that this is what He wanted Amy to do with her life.  She decided to stay in Arizona.  Amy took Early Childhood classes from Central Arizona College and received her Child Development Associate (CDA).  In October 1998, Amy felt God leading her to Phoenix and she got a job at Joy Preschool where she has been ever since.

Amy feels that she has grown up and gone through a lot of changes since she lived in Minnesota, but she knows that God was with her every step of the way.  Just like she knows that He still is and always will be with her.

Amy is the lead teacher in the full-time, Extended Care 3-year-old classroom.  She recently completed part of the CORE Knowledge training for preschool.
