Debora Ann Gow
Lead Teacher – Three Year Olds
dgow@joyschool.org

Debora Ann Gow was born in Trenton, New Jersey on Sep. 3, 1960, into a military family.  This resulted in Debbie and her family living in and learning about different states.  One such move took the family to Alaska where they lived for 3 years and learned a lot about the history and culture of the state.

When Debbie was in 3rd grade, she was diagnosed with dyslexia.  Following enrollment in special education classes for Math and Reading, she eventually overcame her reading problems.  On graduating from high school, Debbie became a nurse’s aid.

Debbie and her husband were married in 1982 and they were blessed with two sons, Wally, born in 1984 and Ian, born in 1990.  In 1988, Debbie volunteered at her first son’s daycare facility, and within a short time, she was recruited to become a full-time teacher there.

Debbie and her husband and family moved to Phoenix, AZ, in 1991.  After being a stay-at-home mom for a few years, Debbie went to work at a Church daycare center in 1994 and has continued working in the childcare profession.

She started attending Calvary Community Church in 1994, and has grown stronger in God’s love.  She is a greeter at her church and attends Sunday Women’s Bible Study.

Debbie completed her CDA in May 2000.  While undergoing studies for her CDA, Debbie discovered that she had a talent for special needs children, particularly those with ADHD, and she focused her attention on increasing her knowledge of how children learn.  She followed the advice of others working in this profession and this has helped her to grow in her personal and professional development.

Debbie believes that God has blessed her with a great family, and a husband of 25 years.  Her older son, Wally, is now 22 years old and is a US Marine, and her younger son, Ian, is 17 and is a Junior at North Canyon High School.

Debbie is a lead teacher in the three-year-old classroom.  She helps to teach the children about God’s Word and love, to further their enjoyment for learning, and to prepare them for the next step to Kindergarten.  Debbie recently completed part of the CORE knowledge training for preschool.
