Early Childhood Center - Principal's Message

Dear Families,

We all want our children to grow up to be what God has designed them to be. At Joy Christian School, our mission is to build Christian leaders ready to thrive in a rapidly changing world. At the Early Childhood Center of Joy Christian School, we keep God as our center and work with parents to nurture the total child...spiritually, socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically.

Our Early Childhood Center staff would love to partner with you in teaching your child "the way he should go," just as we are told in God's word. Our beautiful facility is a safe, loving environment where your child will be nurtured and educated.

In addition to Bible stories, songs, finger plays and daily prayer, your child will experience both teacher-directed and child-initiated activities in our Preschool program. Our developmentally appropriate curriculum will now include Core Knowledge for Preschool. Your child will gain a firm foundation of knowledge and experiences with which they will be well prepared for Kindergarten and be ready to continue their educational career. Core Knowledge was implemented at Joy's elementary and middle school during the 2006-2007 school year with huge success. The continuum of Core Knowledge from Preschool through 8th grade, along with the integration of Biblical principles promises to provide your child with excellence in education.

In addition to the Core Knowledge Curriculum, our ACSI accredited, full day Kindergarten program offers a Christ centered education and the care of loving, highly experienced teachers. Children receive daily Bible lessons and attend weekly chapel. Saxon Math is used and provides the students with daily instruction and concrete hands on experience that helps children develop higher order and abstract thinking skills. Using Rigby’s Literacy By Design our reading program teaches children both decoding and comprehension strategies.  Art, Music, Technology and PE taught by special area teachers are also a part of the Kindergarten experience at Joy.
