Fine Arts
Creative Arts (Grade 9)
Goal: Each student identify in what area(s) of the arts lies their
God given passion and in turn develop a clear understanding of the
art.
Genesis 1:1: "In the beginning God created..." We can only imagine the joy with which our Maker created the universe. Since we were created in His image, as it says in Genesis 1:27, the desire to create has been woven into our very souls since the beginning of man.
Joy Christian High School's Creative Arts Program is designed to stimulate, challenge, motivate and direct that God-given desire to create. The Creative Arts Course is designed to explore all of the areas of the arts. Through music, drama and visual arts, students will be encouraged to identify a personal connection with the arts. Whether it is in script or lyric writing, music composition, set design or performance, the student will be part of a creative group process.
This class will be a study in the elements of the arts:
- Historical
- Fundamentals
- Implementation
This class will be group project driven. Class time will be spent creating, organizing, as well as rehearsing, each project.
Creative Arts (Grade 10)
Goal: Each student will be encouraged to expand and implement his/her
understanding of the material introduced in Creative Arts (9) and
to further define and refine their God-given talents.
During the course of this 2nd year Creative Arts class, students will be challenged to study and research the area of the arts (music, art, drama) in which their main interest lies. The discovery of how the arts are culturally integrated throughout history will enhance the student’s understanding of the arts today and the role that they play in society. Study of individual artists of the past and the present will also be a focus of this course.
Students will be required to produce a major project in the arts area of their choice as well as be encouraged to be student leaders in school productions.
