Science
Physical Science (Grade 9)
This course introduces the high school student to a broad spectrum
of science study while developing reading and math skills. The course
maintains a traditional emphasis on physical science while integrating
physics, chemistry, earth science, and space science. The course will
include lab activities that help build inquiry and critical-thinking
skills.
Biology (Grade 10)
This course will expose the students to all fundamental principles
of biology and will fulfill the requirements of the National Science
Education Standards. Topic areas such as cell biology, genetics, evolution
(from a Christian perspective), ecology, diversity, plants, invertebrates,
vertebrates, and human biology will be covered. The course will include
many different types of lab activities that provide the student hands
on experience. These labs will allow the student to investigate or model
a phenomenon, interpret data, and draw conclusions based on their work.
Chemistry (Grade 11)
This course will be an in-depth study of classic chemistry concepts. The
course will be presented in an inside-out approach – starting with the
atom, to the periodic table, to bonding, and so on. Plenty of practice
problems and a wide variety of lab experiments will be used to build
a strong foundation in working with the taught concepts.
Physics (Grade 12)
This course maintains a balance between traditional, time-tested
physics and the latest in scientific thought. It will focus on both quantitative
problem-solving practice and qualitative conceptual study. Innovative
labs will be used to reinforce concepts taught and modern mathematical
technology will be used for basic exploration of key physics concepts
and to increase problem-solving skill.
Other Science Courses
Science courses such as Earth Science, AP-Biology, and Environmental
Science will be available to students through online courses or dual
credit programs.
